About Me

I'm Ali Mahoney, an Accredited Sport Psychology Practitioner based in South Wales (UK).

My journey into Sport Psychology started with my undergraduate degree at Warwick University. I gained a BA in Sport & Leisure and went on to work in Sports Development and Coaching.

It was a serious sports injury in my early 20's that made me realise the importance of understanding psychology in sport. I tore my cruciate ligament. The physical rehabilitation was tough, but the mental rehabilitation was tougher.

Whilst working in Sports Development, I went on to study for an MSc Applied Sport & Exercise Science at the University of Wolverhampton. Sport Psychology was a big part of this programme. It sparked an interest in working with sports people to help them understand the benefits of Sport Psychology.

I decided to continue my studies with an MSc in Applied Sport Psychology at Cardiff Met University. When there, I began the process to become an Accredited Sport Psychology practitioner with the British Association of Sport & Exercise Science.

Since then, I've been working with various sports teams and individuals. My main aim is to help athletes reach their full potential. Check out my portfolio to see some of the organisations I've worked with.
